The inks used for inflexo
Main content
Inflexo can use a variety of inks, depending on the needs of the business and the types of printing materials.
The popular inks used in flexographic printing are as follows:
1.Water-based ink
The main ingredient is water, pigments with additives such as defoaming agents, drying and adhesion ingredients. This ink, when printing, creates a thin layer on the surface of the printed media, it is soft and does not feel dry. Self-drying under normal conditions and completely dry after 24 hours of printing.
This ink prints fairly fast, but volatile when exposed to sunlight. If you want a more durable color, you must print a polymer coating on the printed surface.
With Flexo printing technology, water-based ink is often used to print sacks, cartons, paper bags, label printing ... the products do not require too high color and image fastness.
2. Solvent-based ink
This is a pigment ink that contains no dye, but does not use water. Use volatile organic compounds such as: 80-90% alcohol, 10-20% acetate
This ink is resistant to water, ultraviolet rays, and good durability in environmental conditions. Because of their inorganic composition, they are toxic and fusible, and are mainly used to print shopping bags commonly found in fashion stores.
3.Oil-based ink
This type of ink is made from petroleum, has a strong oily smell. This ink is long-fading, durable, but its price is higher than water-based inks. Therefore, need to store prints for a long time, water-based ink saves more money. Besides, this ink is quite toxic, so it is often used to print books, newspapers, labels outside the product so as not to affect health.
All Flexo inks are liquid so that batches roll and transfer ink quickly to other surfaces. Water-based inks are most popular because of their cheap price, good permeability, and sharp printing colors.
4.UV ink and Electronic beam (EB)
This ink is used for printers using the UV fusing lamp system or the electric light from EB. This ink print only dries when it is dried with the lamp. This ink is based on light oil, so the print quality is good, color fast. However, the price is high, so only really need to print quickly, so it's beautiful to choose.
UV ink and EB e-beam ink are often used to print on hard-to-print surfaces that don't have permeability like plastic or glass, print books that require beautiful pictures, print warranty stamps, ... UV is used more because it is cheaper and the price of the drying lamp is also lower than that of EB lamp and ink.
